It transmits and receives on all 760 aviation channels from 118.00 MHz to 136.975 MHz. Nineteen memory channels can be programmed for easy recall. The IC-A4 can transmit in either VFO mode or memory mode and offers two different scan modes: total-band scan and memory scan

700 mAh Ni-Cd battery pack (BP-195, supplied) supports 6 hours of operation
An optional 1050 mAh Ni-Cd battery pack (BP-196) supports 9 hours of operation
Optional desktop charger and adapter (BC-119/AD-81), recharges Ni-Cd batteries in 1.5 to 2 hours
Optional alkaline battery case (BP-194) uses eight AA alkaline batteries that operate for 10 to 12 hours
